While I desperately search for the bright side of a never ending winter season- I am reminded of the things that made winter so fun as a kid: snow days, sledding, angels in the powdery fluff and my very favorite childhood memory…making Snow Ice Cream!
Since I can’t will away the cold and snow and there’s no end in sight, I draw upon those childhood favorites to make the best of it. I am sharing my favorite Snow Ice Cream recipe so you and your kids can make great memories during this Polar Vortex that will last long after the snow melts.
Snow Ice Cream
- A big bowl of fresh snow
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups milk
Collect a big bowl of snow (or set an empty bowl outside to collect falling flakes). Stir in sugar and vanilla to taste and add enough milk for desired consistency. Serve immediately, or throw in the freezer (or set outside) to save for later.
*For extra zip, you can use chocolate or strawberry milk
It’s delicious! So, sit back, relax and enjoy a new way to indulge in these long winter snow days.
